Companion reopens the new version.
From 4.4, the supported update procedure waits for the new Companion to confirm it has started before closing the previous one. If the handoff fails, the old window remains available.
For the first upgrade from a pre-4.4 Companion, close the old copy and open the one included in the 4.4 ZIP. Before updating, finish active work, disable Nearby and close the HUMANOID lab.
